Six years ago, Alfred Tsai launched Bicycle Cluster out of frustration. As a journalist covering cycling tradeshows, the Taiwanese bicycle expert found component sourcing maddeningly inefficient.
The solution became Bicycle Cluster, a precise, year-round search engine and virtual expo for bicycle components. Today, it’s one of the industry’s largest online databases – and it’s not stopping there.
“Our mission from the start was to make data useful in an industry where it was often overlooked,” says Tsai. “Now we’re proving that structured data – when integrated into real workflows – can drive transformation across sourcing, marketing, and customer support,” he continues.
In late 2024, Bicycle Cluster unveiled its new Industry Data Platform at the general meeting of the Taiwan Bicycle Association. This structured database integrates with the Taichung Bike Week website and supplier sites, linking the supply chain through one unified system. It’s a bold answer to the industry’s digital lag, where machines are still seen as more valuable than information.
Last year, the company pushed further, bringing AI into the mix. Through a new tech partner, Bicycle Cluster now offers plug-and-play chatbots trained on industry-specific data. Suppliers need only manage their product info once on the platform; the chatbot does the rest. “Most company websites are barely searchable. Structured data changes that. And AI makes it usable,” Tsai says.
Looking ahead, Tsai sees opportunity not just in innovation, but in accessibility. “We believe that even traditional manufacturing can embrace the AI- and data-driven era through practical, actionable steps,” he says. “At Bicycle Cluster, we remain committed to working closely with our partners to deliver meaningful, data-powered solutions that drive the industry forward.” As the industry faces mounting pressure to modernize, Bicycle Cluster is positioning itself not merely as a tool provider, but as a catalyst for systemic change.
