Miranda Bike Parts has published its 2024 Sustainability Report, the fifth in the company’s history. Verified by SGS, the global inspection and certification specialist, the document outlines the supplier’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance over the past year.

According to the report, 82% of Miranda’s total energy consumption in 2024 came from electricity generated from renewable sources. The company also states that 75% of wastewater from production was reused, and that recycled aluminium with 80% post-consumer content was introduced into several key components.

Local supply chains and renewables in focus

The report places particular emphasis on the structure of Miranda’s supply chain. Around 77% of suppliers are based in Portugal and approximately 95% are located within Europe. The company links this regional focus to lower transport-related CO₂ emissions, improved traceability and reduced disruption risks, while also pointing to the economic impact on local and regional partners.

Social indicators form another key part of the update. In 2024, 92% of employees took part in sustainability-related training, and women accounted for 47% of the workforce, the report notes. Miranda also lists two external recognitions awarded during the year: the Sustainability Leadership Award from the Business Intelligence Group and the renewal of its COTEC Innovative Status.

Turning challenges into opportunities

“The year 2024 was particularly significant for Miranda Bike Parts, consolidating our position as a benchmark in the sustainable mobility industry,” CEO João Miranda says in connection with the publication. Against a backdrop of economic uncertainty and supply chain volatility, he describes the company’s approach as an effort to turn “challenges into opportunities”.
