Velo-ce S.R.L. has acquired the renowned titanium bicycle brand Van Nicholas from Accell, marking a significant strategic step for the Italian manufacturer. The deal, announced in early January, underlines Velo-ce’s ambition to expand further into the premium adventure, touring and travel bike segment while keeping production firmly rooted in Europe.

Based near Milan, Velo-ce S.R.L. has built its reputation on vertically integrated, in-house bicycle production. From frame welding and finishing to wheelbuilding and final assembly, the company controls every step of the process. This production philosophy will now be applied to Van Nicholas bicycles, with Velo-ce taking full responsibility for manufacturing going forward. The move builds on the company’s experience with its own Veloe brand, launched in 2020 and well established in Europe for family-oriented and cargo-capable e-bikes.

“Bringing Van Nicholas into the Velo-ce family reflects shared values: building premium bicycles in a low-emission, cost-efficient European facility,” said Anton Nijhuis, business developer at Velo-ce S.R.L. in a recently published press release. He added that the company is prepared to support its global dealer network: “For sales, product, order status or custom configurations, we are ready to support dealers and consumers around the globe. Velo-ce has vast experience in made to order and customized bicycle configurations”.

Van Nicholas is internationally respected for its lightweight yet durable titanium frames, particularly among riders focused on long-distance touring and adventure cycling. According to Velo-ce, the brand will remain clearly positioned in this segment, with a focus on expanding its reach to cyclists who value robustness, longevity and performance.

“We are proud to carry forward Van Nicholas’s legacy. Cyclists will experience the best of both worlds, titanium resilience and Italian manufacturing,” said Stefano Moruzzi, CEO at Velo-ce S.R.L.

From January 2026, Velo-ce will take over all ongoing agreements related to Van Nicholas. Existing stock is being transferred to Italy, and preparations for in-house production are already complete. Velo-ce expects the handover of the current order book, in cooperation with Accell, to take between four and eight weeks. Dealers will be informed directly and will continue to provide service and maintenance locally.

In terms of capacity, Velo-ce states that its manufacturing facility can currently produce up to 8,000 bicycles per year, with room for further growth. While titanium frame manufacturing will not initially be brought in-house, the company has signalled strong interest in developing expertise in titanium design and engineering. The overarching goal is clear: to bring high-quality titanium bicycles to a broader audience, without compromising on craftsmanship or reliability.
