Foxconn launches e-bike controllers, displays

In consumer electronics, Hon Hai (also known as Foxconn) is one of Taiwan’s giants. A day before the Taipei Cycle Show opened its doors at Nangang Exhibition Center, Hon Hai presented a line of displays and controllers for e-bikes, showing its keen interest in this growing market.

With its Foxconn brand, Hon Hai is one of the key players when it comes to assembling all kind of consumer electronics in Far East – from smartphones to tablets to laptops. Employing over two million people in China, Hon Hai’s founder and CEO Terry Gou has become one of the richest tycoons in Taiwan. Recently, Hon Hai has shown a keen interest in low-emission mobility. It has signed up with Taiwan’s electric scooter maker Gogoro for a joint venture to develop EV cars, and it presented a first design of its T1 electric omnibus in Kaohsiung lately under the Foxtron ev mobility brand.

The latest push of Hon Hai into electric mobility is aiming at the fast-growing market for e-bikes. One day before the Taipei Cycle Show started, Hon Hai’s FIT Hon Teng Ltd subsidiary debuted displays and advanced controllers for the use on e-bikes. According to the Taipei Times FIT Hon Teng has already secured orders from some of the world’s major electric bike makers to supply connectors, so the displays and controllers are a next step that promises to create more added value for FIT Hon Teng while offering manufacturers an opportunity to give their e-bikes a different look and feel.
